I FOUND OFTEN I NEEDED TO ACCURATELY CALCULATE DISTANCES, AREA AND VOLUMES AND HAVE A WAY OF KEEPING A RECORD TO SHOW MY CALCULATIONS.
I DECIDED TO CREATE A SMALL "AP" IN VISUAL BASIC TO HELP ME IN DOING CONSTRUCTION CALCULATIONS AND QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY DETERMINE VOLUME OF MATERIALS
SIMPLE BUT USEFUL.
HERE IS THE USER INTERFACE FOR THE CALCULATIONS. 3 SEPARATE INPUTS WERE DESIGNED TO HELP ME USE THE SAME TOOL TO CALCULATE DISTANCES,AREA OR VOLUME BASED ON IMPERIAL DIMENSIONS (IN-FT).
1ST YOU ENTER THE DIMENSIONS IN IMPERIAL UNITS, THEN HIT THE CALCULATE BUTTON WHICH CONVERTED THESE INTO DECIMAL VALUES FOR COMPUTATION.
THE THREE INPUT BOXES ABOVE THE CALCULATIONS ALLOWED ME TO DEFINE WHAT EACH OF THE DIMENSIONS WERE, FOR KEEPING RECORD OF WHICH DIMENSIONS WERE CALCULATED. ONE CALCULATIONS WERE COMPLETE I COULD DO A SNAP SHOT AND STORE THIS IN A FILE FOR RECORDS OF MULTIPLE CALCULATIONS, IF LATER, INDIVIDUAL CALCULATIONS NEED TO BE MODIFIED.
EACH CALCULATION WAS RETURNED IN INCHES OR "MM" AS MY BASE UNIT SO CALCULATIONS COULD BE RETURNED IN DECIMAL OR METRIC UNITS.
THE "RESET BUTTON" ALLOWED ME TO CHANGE OR NEGATE A CALCULATION BEFORE COMPLETING THE ENTIRE CALCULATION, IN CASE I MADE A MISTAKE OR DESIRED TO CHANGE AN INPUT INDIVIDUALLY. I DID NOT NEED TO RE-INPUT ALL THE FACTORS BUT I COULD BE SELECTIVE.
THE NEXT CALCULATE BUTTON ALLOWED ME TO DETERMINE AN AREA, BASED ON ONLY THE 1ST TWO INPUTS. AREA WAS REPORTED IN BOTH DECIMAL AND METRIC.
THE NEXT TWO BUTTONS ALLOWED ME TO DETERMINE AN VOLUME, BASED ON ON ALL THREE INPUTS. AGAIN VOLUME WAS REPORTED IN BOTH IMPERIAL AND METRIC.
