    I AM FAMILAR WITH "UL508" AS A DESIGN REFERENCE FOR "UL COMPLIANT" PANELS, ALTHOUGH I HAVE NO SPECIFIC TRAINING IN IT'S "PROPER" USE. I AM NOT "THE EXPERT", SIMPLY BECAUSE MANY HAVE NOT "PROVIDED ANY GUIDANCE" AND ONLY ASKED FOR ME TO "PRODUCE RESULTS".

    IN MOST CASES, I HAVE BEEN HIRED TO DESIGN THE LAYOUT OF THE PANELS. I AM GIVEN THE SPECIFICATIONS, A BILL OF MATERIAL AND SCHEMATICS AND LEFT TO DESIGN THE PANEL.

    I AM SEEKING THE CHANCE TO BE "MENTORED" FOR A "BRIEF PERIOD" IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH MY OWN ABILTY TO SELECT THE COMPONENTS AND DESIGN THE SCHEMATICS AS WELL.

    I HAVE KNOWLEDGE BUT HAVE NOT PERFORMED THIS TASK IN ENTIRETY. I WOULD PREFER SOME DIRECTION IN PROPER METHODOLGY TO BECOME PROFICIENT AND INDEPENDENT.

    ACTUAL DESIGN PERFORMANCE:


    I HAVE PERFORMED THE TASK OF "RESPECIFYING" EXISITING COMPONENTS AND "MODIFYING" SCHEMATICS, BUT NEVER GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN PROPER TECHNIQUE TO HANDLE INITIAL SPECIFICATION, SCHEMATIC DESIGN AND PLC LOGIC.

    I WAS TOLD IN SCHOOL, AND BY ENGINEERS ON THE JOB, I WOULD NEED TO LEARN THIS "ON THE JOB". OFTEN CONTRACT, I HAVE SAT NEXT TO OTHERS "ENTRY LEVEL" WHO HAVE HAD SEASONED ENGINEER'S WALK THEM THROUGH THE PROPER PROCESS AND "TEACH" THEM THIS SKILL FOR MONTHS.

    WHILE BEING "CONTRACT" I HAVE NEVER BEEN OFFERED ANY TRAINING TO HELP ME ESTABLISH THIS SKILL SET TO BE "MORE" EFFICIENT AND PRODUCTIVE. I HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT BOOKS AND DOCUMENTATION, TO BE TOLD I NEED TO BE "TAUGHT THE PROCESS", SO THIS HAS LIMITED MY CAREER.

    SEEKING AN OPPORTUNITY

    CONSEQUENTIALLY, IN AN INTERVEIW I MAY NOT HAVE THE "IDEAL ANSWERS" ON EXPECTED PROCEDURE, BUT SO FAR ALL THE PANELS "I HAVE DESIGNED" HAVE PASSED INSPECTIONS AND MET REQUIREMENTS. "ALL" EMPLOYERS WERE SATISFIED WITH FINAL RESULTS.

    I AM SEEKING AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE MENTORED IN "CONTROL SELECTION, PLC PROGRAMMING AND OR HMI DEVELOPMENT". TO PERFORM THE TASK A FEW TIMES UNDER SUPERVISION, IN ORDER TO DEVELOP A "TECHNIQUE" AND BE MORE "COMPLETE" IN CONTROLS ENGINEERING. I'M NOT GOING TO LEAVE , QUIT OR EXPLOIT "YOUR HELP". MY DESIRE IS TO CREATE A LEGACY BEFORE I MOVE ON. BUT IF TREATED WELL AND FAIR GROWTH IN OPPORTUNITY AND SALARY - WHY WOULD I LEAVE?

    I AM A QUICK LEARNER WITH SOME TRAINING IN (S7, WINCC, WONDERWARE) BUT NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM THESE TASKS DUE TO DEPARTMENT "COMPARTMENTALIZATION" OF THESE TASKS.

    I AM A SELF STARTER WHO CAN ACHIEVE, BY JUST EXPOSURE TO "TRAINING DOCUMENTATION" FOR PROPER TECHNIQUES. WITH A LITTLE HELP AND SUPERVISION, IN A FEW CYCLES I WOULD BE INDEPENDENT AND A GREAT RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT.

    I CAN ASSURE YOU I TYPICALLY MEET AND EXCEED EXPECTATIONS GRAPHICALLY AND PROGRAMATICALLY AS WELL. I SIMPLY SEEK THE OPPORTUNITY.

    OBSERVATION

    I COME WITH A DESIRE TO NOT ONLY PERFORM THE JOB, BUT IMPROVE THE PROCESS. WHILE I SEE MANAGERS HIRING AND TRAINING PEOPLE FROM THE "GROUND UP", WHO SEEM TO GIVE LITTLE INTEREST OTHER THAN THEY "GET A GOOD JOB". THEY ARE HIRED AND CHANGE JOBS EASILY, BECAUSE OF EXPERIENCE, BUT STILL (MY OPINION) NOT PERFORMING QUALITY WORK AND "REPEATING", NOT "INNOVATING". WHILE PEOPLE LIKE ME, FELL THORUGH THE CRACKS AND HAVE SKILLS AND ARE INVENTIVE. I AM TYPICALLY CHARGED WITH PRODUCING"PERFECTION" BEFORE ANYONE WILL GIVE A FAIR CHANCE AT "TRAINING AND A FUTURE".

    CONTRACT, OFTEN USED AT CONVENIENCE, BECAUSE OTHERS BALK ON DOING LESS THAN DETAILED PERFORMANCE AND ASSURED OF EMPLOYMENT.     I WAS TOLD IN SCHOOL CERTAIN THINGS LIKE "POLITICS AND RELIGION" ARE BEST LEFT AWAY FROM WORK, SO I TEND TO AVOID "ANYTHING" THAT CAN CAUSE A PROBLEM.

    (I CAN BE AMUSING BUT CYNICAL HUMOR). NORMALLY PEOPLE GRAVITATE TO ME BASED ON PERSONALITY AND GETTING THE JOB DONE. I'LL LAUGH, "IF I HAVE TIME", BUT MOSTLY MAY NOT TAKE "COFEE BREAKS", OFTEN WORKING THROUGH LUNCH. THE CRITICAL PERFOMANCE YOU REQUIRE IS MET.

    IN ATLANTA, TRAFFIC VARIES, MY HEALTH HAS AN IMPACT, (BUT DOESNT AFFECT QUALITY OF MY WORK), BUT YOU CAN EXPECT, "I WORK" WHEN I'M AT WORK. YOU GET THE "8 HOURS" YOUR'E ARE PAYING FOR.

    I MAY SURF THE WEB OCCASIONALLY, FOR A MENTAL BREAK. BUT YOU GET QUALITY HOURS OF PERFORMANCE, TYPICALLY STARING IN A COMPUTER 8 HOURS A DAY - NEEDS AN OCCASIONAL BREAK. SINCE I DON'T WALK AROUND AND CHIT-CHAT. I SIMPLY BELEIVE IN BEING "HONEST" AND "SETTING PROPER EXPECTATIONS" THAN TO "OVER OR UNDER ADVERTISE" AND BE LEFT LOOKING "FOOLISH" OR "DISHONEST".
