PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT VS. CONTRACT

HISTORY:

LONG TERM PERMANENT IS PREFERRED.

  • 1ST PERMANENT POSTION: REQUIRED "LEAVING" TO FIND BETTER PAY. I WAS INFORMED BY A DEPT. OF LABOR EMPLOYEE- (THEY WERE DOING SOMETHING ELSE FOR THE COMPANY)-, THAT I WAS BEING GROSSLY UNDERPAID FOR THE TYPE OF POSITION AND WORK. NOT ILLEGAL, BUT UNFAIR.
  • 2ND PERMANENT JOB(2 YEARS)- COMPANY "FOLDED" ENGINEERING GROUP.
  • 3RD PERMANENT JOB-(7 YEARS) FORCED TO LEAVE EMPLOYMENT FOR "FAMILY" REASONS.
  • 4TH PERMANENT JOB-(4 YEARS) (LAID OFF DUE TO LACK OF WORK- 2009 MELTDOWN).

    I TEND TO STAY IF HIRED.

  • PREFERENCE:

    PREFERENCE FOR LONG TERM PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT. A DESIRE FOR "INSURANCE AND BENEFITS".

    CIRCUMSTANCES:

    FORCED TO CONSIDER ANY EMPLOYMENT BETWEEN "COMMENSURATE POSITIONS" IN ORDER TO MEET "PERSONAL BILLS AND OBLIGATIONS". CAD BEING THE CHOICE BY "MOST EXPERIENCE".

    PRESENTLY:

    ALWAYS LOOKING FOR "FAIR" EMPLOYMENT. A LOT OF TIMES I FIND MYSELF BEING "PRIMED FOR LAYOFFS". AS PEOPLE IN POWER ONCE THEY ASSUME I HAVE MADE THE "POSITION SEEM EASY"- START TRYING TO HIRE AND BRING IN "FRIENDS AND BUDDIES" TO TAKE THE POSITION. OFTEN LESS SKILLED. MORE PAY.

    TYPICALLY SAYING, I NEED "HELP" - "DESPITE A LACK OF WORK". OFTEN ALLOWING PROSPECTIVES, WHO ARE "FRIENDS, TO RECEIVE FREE TRAINING" WHICH I DID NOT. OR FORCING ME TO TRAIN THEM IN MY ABILITIES. INCLUDING AN ATTEMPT TO BUY BOOKS AND ALLOW THEM TO LEARN "ON THE JOB", TRYING TO DUPLICATE MY CUSTOMIZATION OR PROGRAMS DURING WORK HOURS.

    OVER YEARS, I SOMETIMES "SPOT" COPIES OF MY WORK AT OTHER COMPANIES- SIMPLY BECAUSE OTHERS WERE TOO RELAXED COPYING MY WORK- TO SIMPLY CHANGE "VARIABLE NAMES"- SO I KNOW ITS MY ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING FROM YEARS AGO.

    I OFTEN FIND PEOPLE HIDING RELATIVE-ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS, TO LIMIT MY LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE. I HAVE EVEN EXPERIENCED A (MANAGER) ATTEMPT TO "DIM" MY CONCEPTS AND PERFORMANCE - WHILE TODAY, YEARS LATER, IDEAS I HAD ARE NOW "COMMON PRACTICE".

    LOYALTY:

    I'VE MET A LOT OF TECHNICAL RECRUITERS THAT "SEEM TO BE IRRITATED" WHEN IT COMES TO THOSE ACCEPTING "CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT" AND THEN HAVING TO SECURE A REPLACEMENT ONCE I HAVE FOUND "PERMANENT" EMPLOYMENT.

    BUT SINCE PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT, HAS BEEN "DUBIOUS" AND SUBJECT TO LAYOFF, I OFTEN FIND MYSELF SOLICITING THESE SAME RECRUITERS FOR FURTHER EMPLOYMENT. WHICH THEY TEND TO PASS OVER THOSE THEY CONSIDER HAVE LEFT A POSITION BEFORE-- CAUSING THEM IRRITATION. .

    ADDITIONALLY "BEING ON CONTRACT"- LEAVES ME LITTLE TIME OR NO TIME TO "LOOK FOR" AND "INTERVIEW" FOR OTHER POSITIONS, WITHOUT LOSING EMPLOYMENT. I AM LOYAL TO WHOMEVER KEEPS ME EMPLOYED, SO I DO WORK HARD AND LONG HOURS. I FIND MYSELF OFTEN STAYING TO COMPLETE "CONTRACTS" TO AVOID BEING BLACKLISTED FROM FUTURE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THUS I HAVE "MISSED OUT ON GROWTH" AND MANY OPPORTUNITIES. FINDING MYSELF EMPLOYED MORE AS "CONTRACT THAN PERMANENT", WHICH IS NOT MY PREFERENCE BUT A "REALITY OF SURVIVIAL".
